The Roseland Community Club met for a regular monthly meeting on February 19th at 7:00 PM at the Village Hall. Those present were Alan Bonifas, Kim Bonifas, Charlie Bourg, Tara Hemberger, Leslie Kober, Brenda Monroe, Corissa Parr, Kristin Parr, Joan Shaw, Lindsay Shaw, Maggie Sommer, Erin Trausch, and John Trausch. The minutes from the January meeting were read and approved. The treasurer’s report listing $23,040.47 as the current balance in the checking account was also read and approved.
Old business discussion included a recap of Vegas Night on January 18th. Treasurer Brenda Monroe reported that profit for the event was over $17,000. Joan Shaw reported that the new Welcome to Roseland signs are in the process of being installed, and it was decided to move forward with a new community park sign and a ball-park sign. Landscaping options for the signs were discussed as well.
New business discussion included the Herberger’s Community Day’s coupon booklet sales and participation in Give Hastings Day on May 1st. It was voted on to take part in the Give Hastings Day event. SummerFest plans for June 28th were also discussesd. The band West Wind has been booked for the dance that evening. Other activities for SummerFest will be a 5K Run/Walk, a kids’ fun run, a sand volleyball tournament, kids’ games in the park, a BBQ pork meal, a pie baking contest and the Kiss the Pig event.
The group made plans to visit the Heartwell Community Center and will look into visiting other small town community centers in the area. The meeting was adjourned at 8:15 PM. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on March 19th, 2013 at 7:00 PM at the Village Hall.
